Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly communicative Solar Permitting Coordinator to join our dynamic operations team. This individual will play a critical role in securing timely permit approvals and scheduling essential milestones that keep our solar installation projects on track. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who is comfortable spending the majority of their day on the phone with local jurisdictions, homeowners, and internal teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesPermitting Coordination
- Prepare and submit permitting applications to local municipalities, utilities, and building departments.
- Follow up persistently on the status of submitted permits via phone and email.
- Track all permit applications, expirations, and approval dates in internal systems.
- Resolve any issues or missing documentation that may delay permitting.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of jurisdiction-specific permitting requirements and processes.
Inspection Scheduling
- Coordinate building, electrical, and utility inspections upon permit approval.
- Serve as the main point of contact between inspectors, homeowners, and internal field teams.
- Communicate inspection outcomes and next steps to appropriate stakeholders.
Installation Scheduling
- Contact customers to coordinate installation dates that align with permit approvals and crew availability.
- Confirm scheduling details with customers and internal installation crews.
- Update project timelines and customer records based on schedule changes or delays.
Administrative & Communication Tasks
- Maintain accurate records of all permitting and inspection milestones in project management software.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments (engineering, sales, project management) to ensure timely handoffs.
- Handle a high volume of phone calls and emails with professionalism and responsiveness.
QualificationsRequired
- 1–3 years of experience in permitting, project coordination, or customer service (preferably in construction, solar, or related field).
- Excellent verbal communication skills and comfort making outbound phone calls regularly.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and/or project management tools (e.g., Salesforce, Smartsheet, Monday.com).
Preferred
- Experience working with local permitting authorities or building departments.
- Familiarity with residential solar installations or renewable energy industry practices.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Office based
- Monday–Friday, full-time, standard business hours.
