We are in search of a Sales Representative that is responsible for developing new business opportunities and maintaining strong customer relationships within an assigned territory. This position promotes and sells customized corrugated boxes, specialty cartons, packaging materials, and related packaging solutions to manufacturers, distributors, and commercial customers. The Outside Sales Representative will identify customer needs, provide consultative packaging solutions, and work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure exceptional customer service and satisfaction.
Responsibilities Include:
- Develop new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, cold calling, referrals, and customer visits within assigned territory.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while identifying opportunities for growth and additional product offerings.
- Conduct customer needs assessments and recommend customized packaging solutions to improve operational efficiency, product protection, and cost effectiveness.
- Prepare and present sales proposals, quotations, pricing, and product recommendations.
- Coordinate with internal customer service, production, purchasing, and operations teams to ensure accurate order fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain regular communication with customers regarding product availability, delivery timelines, and project updates.
- Meet or exceed established sales goals, gross margin targets, and activity expectations.
- Maintain accurate customer records, sales activity, pipeline management, and forecasting within company CRM systems.
- Stay informed regarding market conditions, competitor activity, and industry trends related to corrugated packaging and shipping materials.
- Represent the company professionally during customer visits, trade events, and industry meetings.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally while maintaining the highest level of customer service.
- Additional duties as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Minimum of 2 years of outside sales experience required; packaging, corrugated, industrial, manufacturing, or distribution industry experience preferred.
- Proven track record of developing new business and growing customer accounts.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Strong consultative selling, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts, prioritize tasks, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and CRM software.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving history.
- Ability to travel regularly within assigned territory.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25lbs. Ability to sit, stand, walk, drive, and use standard office equipment frequently throughout the workday.
