Operations Manager / Entrepreneurial PartnerPath to Ownership — Blue Planet Lawn | Salt Lake City, Utah
Are you an experienced lawn care professional who has thought about owning your own business—but would rather build on an established operation than start from scratch?
Blue Planet Lawn is looking for an entrepreneurial Operations Manager who can take increasing responsibility for running and growing the company, with the opportunity to earn and/or invest into an ownership position.
Blue Planet Lawn is an established zero-emission lawn care company in Salt Lake City. We operate with commercial electric equipment and solar-powered charging systems, combining professional lawn care with new technology and a strong focus on sustainability.
The founder is looking to transition away from day-to-day operations and is seeking the right person to take the lead. This is not simply a management position. For the right candidate, it can become an opportunity to build equity and eventually become a significant owner of the company.
The Opportunity
You will initially work closely with the owner to learn the business, customers, crews, equipment, systems, and financial drivers. Over time, the goal is for you to assume primary responsibility for day-to-day operations and growth.
For the right person, we are open to creating a path to ownership based on performance, commitment, and investment of time and/or capital. The exact structure would be developed together based on experience, contribution, and long-term goals.
We are looking for someone who thinks like an owner—not simply an employee.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day lawn care operations, crews, scheduling, routing, and quality control.
- Recruit, train, manage, and develop employees.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing customers and ensure excellent service.
- Generate new business, develop leads, prepare proposals, and close new accounts.
- Develop and execute strategies to grow revenue and improve profitability.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and crew productivity.
- Manage and evaluate equipment, vehicles, battery systems, and emerging lawn care technologies.
- Help implement automation and technology to improve scheduling, communication, routing, and operations.
- Represent Blue Planet Lawn with customers, partners, environmental organizations, and the local community.
- Work directly with the founder during the transition and progressively assume responsibility for running the company.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the lawn care, landscaping, or a closely related service industry.
- Experience managing lawn care crews and field operations.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Sales and customer relationship experience.
- Good understanding of scheduling, routing, equipment, quality control, and operational efficiency.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working independently and making decisions.
- Interest in electric equipment, automation, and new technology.
- Spanish-speaking ability is highly desirable.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and a genuine interest in building long-term value in a business.
Path to Ownership
This position is particularly suited to someone who wants more than a paycheck and is interested in becoming a business owner.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to earn and/or purchase an ownership interest in Blue Planet Lawn. Ownership could be built over time through a combination of demonstrated performance, increased responsibility, long-term commitment, sweat equity, and/or financial investment.
We are flexible about the exact structure because we are more interested in finding the right person than fitting the opportunity into a predetermined formula.
If you've considered starting or buying a lawn care company yourself, this could be an opportunity to step into an established business with existing customers, employees, equipment, systems, and a differentiated brand—and build from there.
About Blue Planet Lawn
Blue Planet Lawn was built around a simple idea: professional lawn care doesn't have to rely on noisy, polluting gasoline equipment.
We have spent years developing and operating a practical zero-emission lawn care model using commercial electric equipment and solar charging. We're now looking for the right entrepreneurial person to help take the business into its next chapter.
If you're looking for an opportunity to run a business, build something of your own, and potentially become an owner rather than simply fill another management position, we'd like to hear from you.
