Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team and drive the success of our construction sitework projects from the ground up. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for accurately assessing project costs, reviewing technical drawings, and preparing comprehensive estimates that align with client expectations and project budgets. Responsibilities
- Review and interpret detailed construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately estimate material requirements and labor costs.
- Develop detailed construction estimates by analyzing project scope, specifications, and site conditions using estimating software such as HeavyBid or Xactimate.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously by preparing cost proposals, budgets, and schedules that meet client needs and company standards.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to negotiate contracts, pricing terms, and scope of work to achieve mutually beneficial agreements.
- Conduct thorough quantity takeoffs from blueprints using Bluebeam or similar digital tools to determine precise material quantities and cost estimates.
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to budgets through effective cost control and management strategies.
- Review construction contracts and technical documents to identify potential risks or discrepancies that could impact project costs or timelines.
- Support project management teams by providing accurate cost data, assisting in bid preparation, and contributing to successful project delivery.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong understanding of construction drawing review, cost management, and project budgeting.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid or Xactimate; experience with Bluebeam is highly desirable.
- Solid knowledge of construction site operations, technical drawings interpretation, and material pricing strategies.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to manage contracts effectively while fostering positive relationships with clients and vendors.
- Strong background in managing projects as a construction estimator with demonstrated success in cost control and estimating material requirements from blueprints.
- Construction management experience combined with a comprehensive understanding of contracts, project management principles, and construction safety standards.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately and translate them into detailed estimates that reflect real-world conditions.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate across teams, present estimates clearly, and negotiate terms confidently.
