AECI 1 Charter School opened in 2008 as a high school and for over nearly two decades has had a proven track record of consistent student success. Our mission is to provide a supportive and challenging learning environment that prepares students to explore the skills, knowledge, and practical experiences leading to college and a career focused in the architecture, engineering and construction industries. With our rigorous college and architecture prep program, AECI 1 consistently achieves an over 95% graduation rate.
AECI 1 expanded to a middle school in 2025 to continue fostering a community of academic excellence, innovation, and personal growth starting in the 6th grade.
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Middle School ELA Teacher to join our faculty and play a pivotal role in shaping the academic and cultural foundation of our new middle school. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic educator who embraces interdisciplinary teaching, seamlessly integrating literature, history, and writing to create meaningful and engaging learning experiences. Committed to both academic excellence and social-emotional development, this teacher will use student performance data to inform instruction, drive continuous improvement, and ensure all learners thrive. Additionally, they will be dedicated to implementing a rigorous and dynamic ELA curriculum that meets the diverse needs of every student.
The AECI 1 Middle School ELA Teacher is expected to fulfill the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver an engaging and interdisciplinary curriculum in language arts and social studies.
- Create a classroom environment that promotes curiosity, discussion, and critical thinking.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
- Utilize project-based and inquiry-based learning approaches.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom culture.
- Assess and monitor student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments.
- Collaborate with fellow educators to develop cross-curricular learning experiences.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and extracurricular activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Education, English, History, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Teaching certification or eligibility for certification in New York State.
- Experience teaching middle school humanities or a related subject.
- Strong understanding of best practices in literacy and social studies instruction.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable classroom environment.
- Ability to collaborate with a team to shape school culture and curriculum.
- Passion for working with middle school students in a dynamic educational setting.
