Technician II (Mid-Level / Independent Installer)
Experience Level: 2–5 Years
Role Summary:
The Technician II performs installations independently, including cable termination, pathway installation, and basic system troubleshooting. This role is responsible for producing high-quality, code-compliant work with minimal supervision.
Core Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, label, and test copper and fiber optic cabling.
- Install pathway systems (J-hooks, cable tray, EMT conduit).
- Install and support devices for CCTV, access control, and network systems.
- Interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and project documentation.
- Perform cable testing and certification using appropriate tools.
- Identify and resolve basic field issues and escalate when necessary.
Skills & Capabilities
- Proficient in copper termination (patch panels, keystones).
- Working knowledge of fiber termination (SC/LC) and testing.
- Ability to read drawings and follow project specifications.
- Familiarity with NEC, TIA/EIA, and BICSI standards.
Independence Level
- Works independently on defined tasks.
- May lead small work areas or assist in guiding Technician I staff.

4. Physical & Technical Requirements
- Weight Requirement: Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs.
- Height/Space: Ability to work at heights on ladders and in confined spaces (attics, crawlspaces).
- Color Vision: Must be able to distinguish different colors for cable coding.
- Tools: Must possess personal basic tools (snips, strippers, punch-down tool, drill).
- Driving: Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Pay: $25.50 - $35.00 per hour
