About the Role
The Compliance Specialist ensures that the company adheres to all regulatory and legal requirements related to food safety, environmental standards, OSHA, and other industry-specific regulations. This role involves implementing compliance programs, conducting audits, managing documentation, and providing guidance to teams to maintain high standards of operational safety and regulatory adherence in a cold storage environment.
What You’ll Do

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including but not limited to FDA, USDA, OSHA, and local/state food safety laws. Monitor and stay up to date with changes in regulations.

Food Safety & Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain food safety programs, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices). Ensure adherence to BRC standards, aiming for AA+ certification.

Audit Management: Lead internal audits and coordinate external audits to ensure that the facility meets or exceeds compliance standards. Prepare for BRC, FDA, and third-party audits.

Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all compliance-related activities, including training, inspections, audits, and certifications. Generate compliance reports for management and regulatory agencies as needed.

Training & Education: Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees, ensuring they understand regulatory requirements and company policies related to safety and quality.

Corrective Actions: Investigate compliance violations or discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

Safety Programs: Collaborate with the safety team to ensure OSHA standards are met, including overseeing safety audits, incident reporting, and workplace safety training.

Environmental Compliance: Ensure that the company complies with environmental regulations regarding waste management, energy consumption, and emissions.

Risk Management: Assist in the identification of risks related to non-compliance and work with relevant departments to mitigate them.

Software Implementation: Support the integration of software systems to track compliance activities and streamline documentation, including food safety and OSHA compliance software.
What You Bring to the Pak

Education: Bachelor’s degree in food science, regulatory affairs, compliance, or a related field is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a compliance-related role, preferably within the food logistics, cold storage, or warehousing industry.

Certifications: HACCP, BRC, or equivalent certifications are required. OSHA certification is a plus.

Skills:

Strong knowledge of FDA, USDA, OSHA, and other relevant regulations.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex regulations in a clear and concise manner.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and familiarity with compliance software.
Physical Requirements

Ability to work in cold storage environments with temperatures as low as -20°F.

Ability to conduct facility walkthroughs and audits, which may involve standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.

Pay Range: $50k-60k annually
This pay range represents the Company’s good-faith estimate of the starting hourly compensation for this role at the time of posting. The actual rate will be determined based on a combination of factors including experience, qualifications, work location, and internal pay alignment, in accordance with applicable laws.
