Heavy Equipment Operator II

Position Summary
Blue Sage Services is seeking experienced operators for the role of Heavy Equipment Operator II. This position is responsible for independently operating primary earthmoving equipment while consistently meeting production goals and supporting efficient project execution. Operator II team members demonstrate proficiency with scraper pans, compaction equipment, and increasingly complex cut-and-fill operations while mentoring developing operators. This position serves as the primary development stage toward advanced finish grading and crew leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate rollers, water trucks, loaders, skid steers, scraper support equipment, and comparable construction equipment
- Perform daily pre- and post-operation inspections
- Complete basic grading, hauling, loading, and material handling operations
- Follow assigned cut and fill plans under supervision
- Assist with earthwork, utility installation, and project production
- Maintain awareness of surrounding personnel and jobsite conditions
- Follow all Blue Sage Services safety protocols, JHAs, and company policies
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and report maintenance concerns
- Assist with labor duties when necessary to support project completion
- Demonstrate continuous improvement through training and coaching
- Perform daily maintenance services, EX. – greasing, fueling, checking all fluid levels, cleaning filters
Qualifications & Requirements
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Proven success as an Operator I or equivalent experience
- Proficient operating scraper pans and compaction equipment
- Working knowledge of cut and fill maps
- Experience with GPS machine control preferred
- Ability to meet production expectations with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- CDL preferred but not required
- Must pass pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol screenings
Work Environment & Schedule
- Work hours may vary based on project demands and operational workload
- Frequent travel may be required depending on project location
- Outdoor work in varying weather and terrain conditions
