A leading financial services firm is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day GAAP operational accounting functions. The Accounting Manager will be hands-on and sit at the intersection of technical accounting and operational execution, with responsibility for ensuring the integrity of the general ledger, driving month-end close, and supporting the broader finance organization.
The right candidate brings solid financial services industry experience, a working knowledge of fund accounting, and the maturity to manage a team while staying close to the detail.
Responsibilities:

Manage the full monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycle, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across all GAAP-compliant reporting deliverables.

Oversee general ledger maintenance, journal entry review, and account reconciliations, with a focus on financial instruments, investment-related entries, and fund-level activity.

Apply fund accounting principles to support reporting, fee calculations, and allocation entries.

Review and approve work prepared by staff, providing technical guidance on accounting treatment for complex transactions.

Maintain and strengthen internal controls, identifying process gaps and driving improvements in efficiency and accuracy.

Support the implementation or enhancement of accounting systems and workflows, contributing to automation and scalability initiatives.

Manage, develop, and mentor a small team of accounting professionals.
Requirements:

Five+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a meaningful portion spent within financial services (asset management, fund administration, banking, lending, mortgage, or a related sectors.

Direct exposure to fund accounting, including familiarity with fund structures under GAAP.

Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP, with the ability to research and apply guidance to non-routine transactions.

Demonstrated experience managing a close process and reviewing the work of others.

Proficiency in ERP and accounting systems; experience with industry-relevant platforms a plus.

Bachelor's degree is required.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate accounting concepts for non-accounting stakeholders.
