Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating and setting up manual machining equipment to produce precision metal components according to detailed blueprints and specifications. Responsibilities
- Operate manual machining tools such as lathes, grinders, mills, and bore gauges to produce metal parts with precision.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications accurately to guide machining operations.
- Set up and calibrate manual machines, including selecting appropriate tooling and adjusting machine parameters for optimal performance.
- Use measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and dial indicators to ensure parts meet strict quality standards.
- Perform basic math calculations for measurements, tolerances, and machining adjustments.
- Conduct quality inspections throughout the machining process, ensuring parts conform to GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following safety protocols and properly handling power tools and hand tools.
- Assist in assembly processes when required, ensuring components fit correctly and meet specifications.
Skills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints and technical drawings with clarity and accuracy.
- Strong knowledge of manual machining techniques using lathes, mills, grinders, and other machining tools.
- Experience with CNC (Computer Numerical Control) programming including G-code and M-code is a plus but not mandatory; familiarity with CNC setup is beneficial.
- Ability to operate measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and precision measuring instruments confidently.
- Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is advantageous for complex part fabrication.
- Skilled in CAM programming software like SolidWorks or CAD for designing or modifying parts as needed.
- Mechanical knowledge including understanding of tooling selection, machine setup, and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints accurately for precise manufacturing tasks.
- Familiarity with manufacturing standards including GD&T principles for quality control purposes.
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and adjustments during machining operations.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality assurance through measurement and inspection techniques.
- Excellent hand tool skills along with experience using power tools safely in a manufacturing setting.
