The Park Rapids High Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate High School Science Teacher to join our team at Park Rapids High School. This position will teach 7-12 Science, with an emphasis on grades 7/8. The ideal candidate would also have a 7/8 math license or willingness to obtain an Out Of Field permission. and teach 7/8 math.
The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop a love for science and foster critical thinking skills through innovative teaching methods. The successful candidate will create an engaging learning environment, promote scientific inquiry, and prepare students for future academic and career opportunities in the sciences.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans that align with state standards and district curriculum.
- Deliver high-quality instruction in various science subjects, including biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through a variety of methods, including tests, projects, and presentations.
- Provide timely feedback to students and communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student performance and behavior.
- Utilize technology and digital resources to enhance learning and engage students.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and advancements in science.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary projects and promote a cohesive science curriculum.
- Supervise and engage students during laboratory experiments and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Support extracurricular activities, such as science clubs or competitions, to further enrich students' learning experiences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in secondary science education for the state of Minnesota.
- Strong knowledge of science concepts and the ability to convey complex information in an accessible manner.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to create an engaging and inclusive classroom environment.
- Experience with differentiated instruction and accommodating diverse learning needs.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance teaching and learning.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and development in the field of education.
