Job Overview
Lincoln Builders is seeking an experienced accounting professional to join our finance team. This position is designed as a succession-planning role with the opportunity to grow into an Assistant Controller position. The successful candidate will partner closely with the Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations, strengthen internal controls, support financial reporting, and help lead the department through planned organizational growth and retirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in the monthly and year-end close process.
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning.
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Coordinate annual audit requests and prepare audit workpapers.
- Prepare and review sales tax and other compliance filings.
- Review payroll, payroll reconciliations, and related accounting.
- Assist with insurance accounting, bonding support, and treasury activities.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
- Serve as backup for critical accounting functions and help strengthen cross-training.
- Work closely with project administration and operations to improve financial processes.
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- CPA preferred or actively pursuing CPA.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills; ERP experience preferred (CMiC or construction industry experience is a plus).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
