Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and monitoring patient status.
- Perform animal restraint and handling using humane techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
- Conduct laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnoses.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures like animal catheterization and wound management to prevent infections.
- Manage pet care routines including grooming, feeding, and administering medications as directed.
- Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with cleaning, and polishing
- Operate radiography equipment to take X-rays, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
- Maintain detailed medical records, update patient charts with treatment plans, and document all procedures accurately.
- Contribute to team efforts by participating in ongoing training related to veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and advanced technical skills like laboratory testing or equine care.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a similar veterinary support role; veterinary technician certification is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary terminology to perform technical tasks confidently.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures, X-ray operations, aseptic techniques, and veterinary critical care protocols.
- Ability to handle animals safely using restraint techniques suitable for different species.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail.
