Job Overview
This position is to work in our home as a support person for a physically challenged 52 year old woman who is very active and wants to live life to its fullest.
She requires help with all activities of daily living such as washing, dressing, toileting, feeding etc. She does require some lifting (from bed to wheelchair, from wheelchair to toilet etc.) but she is petite at approximately 75 to 80 lbs.
General household maintenance is also part of the position. There is meal prep, light daily cleaning, laundry, shopping etc.
She is non-verbal and therefore has specialized ways of communicating. With the help of another person she is able to spell out what she has to say. She also has a specialized electronic communication system she can use quite independently. You would be trained in both options.
There are multiple activities that she participates in outside the home for which you will be driving our minivan. Some activities may be at venues which have an age requirement of 21 years old. (example: clubs / concerts serving alcohol).
Due to the personal nature of care, only a female caregiver is acceptable.
Experience can be helpful but is not necessary. We have trained many people who did not have any health care experience. Other staff and family are there to support you as you learn and become comfortable in the position. Sincere interest in working personally with someone is one of the most important qualifications.
Currently hiring Tuesday through Saturday evenings 4pm - 10:30pm
Pay: From $21.00 per hour
