PART-TIME TAX MANAGER
Join a firm that actually thinks differently.
Remote $75,000 annually or $75 an hour / cap of 1,000 hrs annually Tulsa, OK preferred (not required)
THIS ISN'T YOUR AVERAGE TAX ROLE
Most tax positions are about compliance. Prepare the return, meet the deadline, repeat. This one is different.
We're a modern accounting and advisory firm built for marketing agencies — one of the most dynamic, fast-growing, and creatively driven business sectors out there. Our clients don't think in straight lines, and neither do we. We've built our entire practice around technology, efficiency, and finding the angles other firms don't see.
We're looking for a tax professional who is done just "doing returns" and wants to actually build something — a tax department that leads with strategy, leverages modern tools, and delivers real, tangible value to clients who are scaling fast and need a trusted advisor in their corner.
THE QUICK FACTS
Compensation
$75,000 annual / $75 per hour | capped at 1,000 hours per year
Position Type
Part-time, W-2 (negotiable) potential to grow to full-time if the right candidate desires full-time
Location
Fully remote — Tulsa, OK metro is a plus, not a requirement
Client Focus
Marketing agencies & their owners, spread out across the US
Schedule Flexibility
You own your calendar within client deadlines but will generally work a fixed schedule week over week within our core hours
WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO
Your work will span three areas — technical, strategic, and operational:
TECHNICAL EXCELLENCE
▸ Prepare, review, and sign 1040, 1065, 1120S, and 1120 returns — you'll own this end to end
▸ Navigate multi-state apportionment for clients with nexus across multiple states
▸ Handle the complexity of business owners with personal and entity returns across most states
▸ Identify issues before they become problems — your eye for detail is what protects clients
CLIENT STRATEGY & ADVISORY
▸ Lead client-facing tax strategy sessions — not just reviewing returns, but shaping decisions
▸ Provide proactive planning insights: entity structure, timing strategies, deduction optimization
▸ Build trusted advisor relationships where clients come to you before they make big moves
▸ Think creatively and out of the box — the obvious answer isn't always the best one
DEPARTMENT BUILDING & OPERATIONS
▸ Design and implement systems that reduce manual work and eliminate friction in the tax workflow
▸ Identify and deploy modern tech tools — AI, automation, practice management software — that actually make things faster
▸ Create repeatable processes so quality stays high as the client base grows
▸ Help define what a strategy-first tax department looks like at a firm like ours
WHO YOU ARE
We care more about how you think than where you've been. That said, the right person probably looks something like this:
▸ 5+ years preparing complex individual and entity returns — you're past the learning curve
▸ CPA, EA, or equivalent with active PTIN — you can sign returns and own the work
▸ Deep familiarity with multi-state apportionment; New York state and city tax is not a mystery to you
▸ You actually enjoy client meetings and building relationships — this isn't a head-down, no-contact role
▸ You've thought about what a better tax workflow looks like and have opinions about it
▸ You're comfortable with technology and excited (not threatened) by automation and AI tools
▸ You can work independently without a lot of hand-holding — you figure things out
▸ You see tax strategy as a creative discipline, not just a compliance function
BONUS POINTS IF YOU...
▸ Are based in or near the Tulsa, OK metro area (team meetups become much easier)
▸ Have worked with creative agencies, founder-led businesses and high net wealth individuals
▸ Have experience designing or rebuilding a tax department workflow from scratch
▸ Have worked at a boutique or modern advisory firm — you know what good looks like
▸ Have a passion for tax strategy that goes beyond the standard playbook
WHY THIS FIRM
"We built this firm around one belief: accounting should create value, not just report on it. We use better technology, ask better questions, and push our clients toward smarter decisions — not just cleaner books and filed tax returns."

▸ A firm that invests in tools — we don't ask people to do things technology should handle
▸ Clients who are dynamic, growing, and genuinely interesting to work with
▸ A seat at the table to shape what the tax function looks like — your ideas will matter
▸ Flexible, remote work that respects your time and doesn't nickel-and-dime your hours
▸ A team that values curiosity, initiative, and thinking beyond the obvious answer
We’re a small team with high standards and low tolerance for mediocrity — in the best way. We believe in:
▸ Going above and beyond — not because it’s required, but because it’s who we are
▸ Thinking outside the box — creative problem-solving is part of the job description
▸ Proactive & Timely communication — with clients and with each other
▸ Wow service — the kind clients talk about, not just the kind they expect
