Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this vital role, you will provide personalized care and assistance to individuals with disabilities, helping them achieve greater independence and quality of life. Your dedication will empower clients through supportive engagement, ensuring their safety, well-being, and happiness in a nurturing environment.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor clients’ health by taking vital signs and observing for any changes in condition
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with cooking to meet dietary needs
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning and sanitation tasks
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers and heavy lifting when necessary
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in assisted living, group homes, or home health care preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, and memory care strategies
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and HIPAA compliance are highly desirable
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders
- Strong communication skills and patience to support diverse client needs
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and assist with mobility support equipment
- Experience in nursing home or long-term care settings is a plus
