Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Stocker / Cashier to join our retail team. This is a small business, it is not a corporation, we are looking for someone that will give our customers good service, as well as pay attention to details in the store. This role is vital in providing excellent customer service, maintaining organized shelves, and ensuring smooth checkout processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, basic math proficiency, and experience in retail sales environments, particularly grocery stores. Bilingual abilities and supervisory experience are a plus, helping to enhance team performance and customer interactions. This position offers an engaging work environment where you can develop your sales and merchandising skills while supporting store operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate POS systems efficiently to process transactions accurately and handle cash, credit, and debit payments with proper cash handling procedures
- Stock shelves and organize merchandise to ensure products are well-presented and accessible for customers
- Assist customers with product inquiries, provide product demos when applicable, and promote upselling opportunities to increase sales
- Maintain clean and organized checkout areas, aisles, and stockrooms to ensure a safe shopping environment
- Support merchandising efforts by arranging displays and replenishing inventory as needed
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and addressing concerns professionally
- Supervise or assist in supervising team members during shifts to ensure smooth store operations (if applicable)
- Uphold phone etiquette when communicating with customers or vendors over the phone
- Assist with inventory management tasks such as stock counts and product rotation
Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail sales, grocery stores, or cashier roles preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems and basic retail math for accurate transactions
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are advantageous
- Demonstrated customer service skills with a friendly demeanor
- Ability to perform basic math calculations quickly and accurately
- Experience with merchandising, stocking, upselling, or product demos is a plus
- Supervising experience is beneficial for leadership opportunities within the team
- Excellent phone etiquette and professional communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
