Project Engineer
Role Description:
The Project Engineer’s primary responsibility is assisting the Superintendent, Project Manager and/or Area Manager through on-site supervision of the project and assisting with administrative and technical tasks that support the project. The individual will be responsible for reviewing and understanding the project plans and specifications and ensuring the project is constructed in accordance with these documents. The individual is also responsible for daily tracking of all quantities of work performed by TMS and all subcontractors working on the project, generation and submittal of RFI’s, completion of daily project reports, schedule updates, identifying and tracking additional work, preparing change orders for extra work performed, and assisting with the generation of monthly invoices. The individual must have a general understanding of highway construction – specifically earthwork, grading, drainage, paving, ITS, and lighting. This is primarily a field-based role; however, office work will be required to complete some tasks.
Responsibilities:

Daily tracking for all quantities of work performed on the project

This may require on-site measurements and take-offs for work performed, on-site meetings with subcontractors to review work performed, entering of daily quantities into tracking sheet, reviewing quantities of work performed with CEI and Project/Area manager.

On-site supervision of the project.

Project engineer will work on-site in a “support” role to the Superintendent on site. This may require the generation of reports, photo documentation, RFI’s, communication with subcontractors, etc.

Quantity takeoffs for upcoming work.

Material tracking

Tracking of extra work activities performed on-site and preparation of Change orders for review.

Ensuring TMS safety policies and protocols are always followed.

Assisting in the development of the 3-week look-ahead schedule.

Assisting with monthly CPM schedule updates.

Compiling monthly MOT certification for payment.

Performing SWPPP inspections and completing SWPPP reports.

Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

2 years’ minimum experience is required
-
Current Valid Driver’s License
-
Minimum High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Construction or Engineering) is preferred but not required.

Strong communication and problem solving/critical thinking skills

Must have strong work ethic

Must take initiative to complete the tasks necessary for successful project completion

Must work well with all other employees, vendors, general contractors etc.

Strong computer skills in Microsoft office, Excel, etc.

Strong written skills

Must be able to accurately review and develop detailed take-off plan for material acquisitions

Effective planner and well organized
-
Punctuality and a winning attitude.

Bluebeam Revu Software is a plus but not required.

Experience working on FDOT projects is preferred.

General knowledge of Electrical, ITS, Lighting, and Tolling scopes is preferred.

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to read and understand contract documents, specifications, and plans.
