The Lloyd Company is a machine shop (job shop) seeking an experienced Mill CNC Programmer who can also machine parts when not programming.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review routers, drawings, and work instructions to fully understand the required tasks.
- Identify efficient and productive methods for machining parts.
- Select appropriate tooling for the cutting sequence in the program.
- Create CNC programs with setup sheets, tooling requirements, and special instructions.
- Order necessary tooling for machine operations.
- Monitor and review any edits or changes made to programs to ensure efficiency.
- Set up CNC machines according to work instructions.
- Validate machine setups by executing programs in safe mode (dry-run) to check tool paths and settings, preventing collisions or crashes.
- Measure parts to ensure they meet specifications.
- Focus on the machining process by monitoring tool movement, listening for sounds, and checking part security.
- Refresh cutting tools as needed to prevent part damage and ensure proper operation.
- Use cycle time to conduct quality checks and remove burrs.
- Report deviations to the Team Leader as they arise.
- Document and save all changes made to programs.
- Notify the Team Leader of machine malfunctions or repair needs.
- Maintain a clean work area and organized toolbox.
- Perform daily machine cleaning and maintenance tasks.
REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma or equivalent (or as deemed sufficient by management).
- Strong knowledge of machining processes and CNC programming software.
- At least 4 years of experience as a programmer, or as deemed sufficient by management.
- Own tools and toolbox (micrometers, indicators, calipers, etc.).
- Pre-employment drug screen required.
- Previous experience with GibbsCam preferred.
SCHEDULE
- Monday to Friday (weekends optional)
- 40-50 hour weeks
