Dolci Gelati is an artisanal Italian gelato and sorbetto company based in Washington, DC. We produce our gelato and sorbetto from scratch at our DC production facility for our retail locations, catering events, and wholesale partners throughout the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area.
Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Gelato Chef / Production Gelato Maker to join our production team.
This is a hands-on position making artisanal gelato and sorbetto according to Dolci Gelati's established recipes and production standards.
Previous kitchen or food-production experience is preferred, but not required. No gelato-making experience is necessary — we will train the right candidate.
Duties
- Prepare and produce gelato and sorbetto according to established recipes
- Accurately measure and prepare ingredients
- Learn to operate commercial gelato-making and production equipment
- Follow daily production schedules
- Maintain consistent product quality, texture, and flavor
- Package, label, date, and properly store finished products
- Maintain a clean and organized production area
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling procedures
- Clean and sanitize equipment, tools, and work surfaces
- Monitor ingredient and supply levels and communicate when items need to be reordered
- Receive and organize ingredients and production supplies
- Assist the production team with additional tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen, culinary, bakery, ice cream, gelato, or food-production experience preferred, but not required
- We will train the right candidate

- Basic math and measuring skills
- Organized and able to work efficiently
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to cleanliness and food safety
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical duties of a commercial production environment
If you're dependable, willing to learn, and take pride in doing things correctly and consistently, we'd love to hear from you. Previous gelato experience is a plus, but it is not necessary — we'll teach you our process.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
