Overview
The Peer Recovery Coach (PRC) provides non-clinical services intended to support patients in their recovery journey from use of drugs and alcohol that has impacted their ability to function in their daily life. The PRC will work as part of the Emergency Department (ED) team to provide recovery support, motivation to encourage patients who are seeking treatment, and system navigation using a patient centered approach. The PRC will assist in completing referrals to treatment services and developing recovery plans to promote successful linkage to treatment services and/or other services in which the patient expresses interest. Services will be provided in the Tidelands- Georgetown Memorial Hospital Emergency Department, or other parts of the hospital as permitted by the hospital. The PRC must be available to 1st and 2nd shift hours, weekend shifts, and holidays as determined by project leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Must be a former consumer of substance use disorder treatment. And have a minimum of three years of continuous successful recovery. Must be actively engaged with his/her recovery process/program. Must complete a South Carolina certified peer support training program, completing all hours, and passing the end of the course exam.
Grant dependent employment position.
