Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Care Aide to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to providing personalized support to individuals with diverse needs, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those requiring memory or dementia care. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by assisting clients with daily activities and promoting their independence in a respectful, safe environment.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor patients’ health status by observing vital signs and reporting changes to healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary.
- Support clients in maintaining personal hygiene and cleanliness through light housekeeping and cleaning tasks.
- Use manual handling equipment such as Hoyer lifts safely to transfer clients with mobility challenges.
- Follow care plans meticulously, ensuring all services align with prescribed medical and personal preferences.
- Administer medications accurately under supervision, adhering to HIPAA regulations and safety protocols.
- Document client progress, observations, and care activities clearly and consistently in compliance with privacy standards.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring.
- Familiarity with dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and supporting individuals with neurodevelopmental or developmental disabilities.
- Ability to perform light cleaning duties and assist with meal preparation in accordance with health standards.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or intellectual disabilities is advantageous.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training in manual handling or hospice care is preferred.
- Strong communication skills coupled with patience, empathy, and respect for diverse needs are essential for success in this role.
