Location: Blue Bell, PA
Job Type: Part-Time / On-Call
Pay: Competitive hourly rate, based on experience
Overview
We are looking for a reliable, practical, and service-minded Private Chef to support a private residence in Blue Bell, PA on a part-time / on-call basis.
This role is mainly needed when Korean VIPs visit and stay at the residence. VIP visits may happen several times throughout the year, and each stay may vary from a few days to a few weeks depending on the visitors’ schedule. When possible, schedules will be shared in advance. However, visit timing, meal times, menu preferences, number of guests, and service needs may change depending on the VIPs’ schedule and preferences.
There may also be occasional meal requests from a young adult family member. These requests may happen with short notice and, at times, may be made suddenly. The right candidate should be flexible and comfortable responding to changing schedules and requests.
This is not a full-time daily chef position. The right candidate should be available during planned VIP residence periods and flexible for occasional family meal requests. During VIP visits, weekend availability and multiple consecutive workdays may be required.
The food style is mainly Western cuisine, including American, French, Italian, pasta, steak, pizza, brunch, and simple but well-prepared meals. Korean food experience is a plus, but not required. However, the amount of Korean food requested may vary depending on the visitors’ preferences. The selected candidate will be trained on several basic Korean dishes after starting.
This position will be paid at an hourly rate of $35 per hour, with payment made every two weeks.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare meals for VIPs and family members at a private residence in Blue Bell, PA.
- Prepare meals during scheduled residence periods or upon request.
- Prepare approximately 1 to 2 meals per day when needed, although the actual number of meals and meal times may change depending on the VIPs’ or family member’s schedule.
- For VIPs, prepare breakfast, lunch, or dinner as needed. Meal times may change depending on the visitors’ schedule.
- For a young adult family member, prepare brunch or dinner as requested. These requests may come with short notice.
- Cook mainly Western-style meals, including American, French, Italian, pasta, steak, pizza, brunch, and similar dishes.
- Learn and prepare several basic Korean dishes after starting, such as kimbap, kimchi stew, soybean paste stew, ramen, spicy beef soup, spicy pork, and beef bulgogi.
- Adjust the balance between Western and Korean meals depending on guest preferences, meal schedules, and requests.
- Plan simple menus based on preferences, meal timing, and available ingredients.
- Handle grocery shopping and ingredient preparation.
- Prepare ingredients in advance so meals can be served quickly and smoothly.
- Respond flexibly to meal time changes, menu changes, or sudden requests when possible.
- Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and ready for use.
- Communicate with household staff or company representatives regarding meal schedules, grocery needs, guest preferences, and any changes.
- Maintain discretion, professionalism, and a service-oriented attitude in a private household environment.
- Manage groceries, ingredients, and food inventory after shopping.
- Keep track of purchased food items, expiration dates, storage condition, and remaining ingredients.
- Ensure that food ingredients are properly stored, organized, and used efficiently to reduce waste.
- Communicate grocery needs, low-stock items, and special ingredient requests to household staff or company representatives.
Important Service Expectations
This role requires strong timing, preparation, and quick movement during meal service.
The VIPs prefer meals to be served smoothly and efficiently, without long waiting time between dishes. The ideal candidate should be able to prepare ingredients in advance, organize the kitchen properly, and serve meals quickly once the meal begins.
Meal times, menus, number of guests, and the amount of Korean food requested may change depending on the VIPs’ or family member’s schedule and preferences. The ideal candidate should be comfortable adjusting quickly and practically, rather than only following a fixed menu or fixed schedule.
This role does not require an overly formal fine-dining chef background. We are looking for someone practical, reliable, fast-moving, and comfortable preparing good-quality meals in a private residence setting
