Position Summary
Joelle's Soul & Savour is seeking an experienced, passionate, and results-driven Restaurant General Manager to oversee all aspects of restaurant operations. The General Manager serves as the highest-ranking operational leader and is responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience while ensuring operational excellence, financial success, and a positive team culture. This individual will provide leadership to both the front-of-house and back-of-house teams and serve as the liaison between ownership and restaurant staff to ensure company goals are successfully executed.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, supervise, and develop restaurant staff, including managers, servers, hosts, bartenders, and kitchen personnel.
- Foster a positive, professional, and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and employee engagement.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching and mentoring, and recognize outstanding employee performance.
- Address employee concerns and implement corrective action when necessary.
Operations Management
- Oversee daily front-of-house and back-of-house operations to ensure efficient and seamless service.
- Maintain exceptional standards for food quality, presentation, cleanliness, and customer service.
- Monitor restaurant performance during peak business hours and make operational adjustments as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and operating procedures.
Financial Management
- Manage restaurant budgets and financial performance, including food costs, labor costs, inventory, and operating expenses.
- Analyze daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports to identify opportunities for increased profitability.
- Develop and implement cost-control strategies while maintaining high-quality service and guest satisfaction.
- Monitor inventory levels and reduce waste through effective purchasing and inventory management.
Guest Experience
- Ensure every guest receives exceptional hospitality and a memorable dining experience.
- Address guest concerns, complaints, and service recovery opportunities promptly and professionally.
- Build customer loyalty by maintaining high standards of hospitality and service excellence.
- Support promotional events and marketing initiatives that increase customer traffic and community engagement.
Staffing & Scheduling
- Develop employee schedules based on projected sales and business needs.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels while controlling labor costs.
- Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, meal and break requirements, and company scheduling policies.
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health, safety, sanitation, labor, and food safety regulations.
- Maintain SERV Safe and health department standards throughout the restaurant.
- Complete required operational reports, including sales, labor, inventory, attendance, and financial reporting.
- Ensure adherence to brand standards, company policies, and operational procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in hospitality management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 4–8 years of progressive restaurant management experience, including leadership of high-volume dining operations.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven experience managing budgets, labor, food costs, inventory, and financial performance.
- Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, and customer service skills.
- Ability to lead in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Proficiency with restaurant POS systems, scheduling software, inventory management, and Microsoft Office.
- Current Serv Safe Manager Certification preferred; OSHA and alcohol service certifications are a plus.
