We are seeking a skilled and motivated Automotive / Industrial Painter to join our growing team. This position focuses on preparing and painting commercial truck equipment, including flatbeds, service bodies, dump bodies, truck beds, and other fabricated steel equipment.
The ideal candidate takes pride in producing a clean, durable, professional finish and is comfortable working in a fast-paced fabrication and truck-equipment environment.
Applicants are required to have their own professional paint spray gun.
In addition to painting, this position will perform bedliner and undercoating applications. Previous experience with these specific applications is not required—we will provide training for qualified candidates who have strong painting and surface-preparation experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare truck bodies, flatbeds, service bodies, and other equipment for painting through sanding, grinding, cleaning, masking, and surface preparation.
- Apply primers, automotive/industrial paints, coatings, and clear coats using professional spray equipment.
- Apply paint using the employee's own professional paint spray gun, which must be maintained in clean and proper working condition.
- Inspect surfaces before painting and correct imperfections to ensure proper adhesion and a high-quality finished product.
- Perform minor surface repairs and refinishing as needed prior to painting.
- Use grinders, sanders, hand tools, power tools, and buffing equipment safely and effectively.
- Apply spray-on bedliner and protective coatings to truck beds and equipment.
- Apply undercoating and corrosion-protection products to trucks and equipment.
- Properly mix and prepare paints, primers, coatings, and related materials according to manufacturer specifications.
- Follow proper masking techniques to protect areas that should not be painted or coated.
- Maintain painting equipment in clean, safe, and working condition.
- Inspect completed work for proper coverage, finish quality, and overall appearance.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including proper use of respiratory protection, PPE, ventilation systems, and safe handling of painting materials and chemicals.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized paint and preparation area.
- Work with fabrication and production team members to complete equipment according to production schedules and quality standards.
Requirements
- Must own and provide a professional-quality paint spray gun suitable for automotive/industrial refinishing.
- Previous experience in automotive painting, collision/body refinishing, commercial truck painting, industrial painting, or a similar field is strongly preferred.
- Experience with surface preparation, sanding, grinding, masking, priming, and spray painting.
- Ability to properly operate conventional automotive/industrial spray guns and painting equipment.
- Knowledge of automotive or industrial paints, primers, coatings, reducers, hardeners, and proper application methods.
- Ability to identify and correct common paint-finish problems such as runs, poor coverage, surface imperfections, or improper preparation.
- Comfortable working with steel truck bodies and fabricated equipment of different sizes and configurations.
- Ability to safely use grinders, sanders, power tools, and other equipment used during the preparation and finishing process.
- Ability to lift and move materials and equipment safely as required by the position.
- Ability to follow instructions, production specifications, and established quality standards.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing professional-quality work.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a production team.
- Commitment to workplace safety and proper use of required PPE and respiratory protection.
Bedliner & Undercoating
Previous experience applying bedliners or undercoatings is a plus but is not required. We will train the right candidate on our specific products, equipment, preparation requirements, and application procedures.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their craftsmanship and understands that proper preparation is just as important as the final coat. If you have professional painting experience and want to apply your skills to commercial trucks and custom truck equipment, we encourage you to apply.
