Job Summary:
Responsible for preparing, coordinating, and tracking all correspondence related to medical and billing records requests, insuring they are received/accepted by the requestor. Support and equip compliance team and more specifically medical review and licensing.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates, and has direct responsibility for tracking all requests for medical and billing records requests.
- Thoroughly reviews all requests for billing and medical records to ensure accuracy of the request and will request a release of information to get completed when applicable.
- Serves as principal source of information regarding the status of Medical and Billing Record preparation and delivery.
- Gather, Draft, edit and prepare records, correspondence, reports, and other material using word processing, spreadsheets and/or databases.
- Prepares and maintains reports and tracking tools, reviews complex documents, reports etc. keeping them up to date and available to the leadership team.
- Communicates directly with medical and billing requestors for clarification on requests.
- Ensures all medical and billing records requests are processed timely and delivered securely to follow HIPAA guidelines to protect PHI.
- May assist in assembling and auditing records.
- Contributes to Empower Services and Compliance department goals by accomplishing related duties as required.
- Other duties as assigned
- Check mail daily at the Empower office location
- Update CLIA certificates as needed
- Update letter of authority for governing body

- Participates actively in continuing education and in-services.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information and business trade practices
- Ability to effectively communicate with clinical and non-clinical employees.

Minimum Position Qualifications:
Associates degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred
3 years in audits and/or legal, preferred.
3 years in hospice or home health, preferred.
Environmental Conditions:
Ability to work flexible schedule, ability to travel locally. Moderate noise level; Office Setting
Physical Requirements: Sitting is required. Requires ability to always handle stressful situations in a calm and courteous manner. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and agency needs.
