The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with strong FDOT expertise to lead our heavy highway and roadway construction projects. This role is ideal for a strategic, hands-on leader who excels at project delivery, financial performance, and team development—while mentoring the next generation of construction professionals.
You will lead projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and profitability while serving as a key point of contact for clients, agencies, and internal teams.
Essential Responsibilities & Abilities
The Project Manager’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead all phases of construction projects from planning through closeout
- Manage project budgets, schedules, resources, and contract finances to ensure profitability
- Oversee subcontractor coordination, site progress, and compliance with plans, specifications, and FDOT requirements
- Conduct site visits and lead project meetings to track progress, resolve issues, and mitigate risk
- Prepare, review, and manage budgets, change orders, schedules, reports, and project documentation
- Collaborate closely with Superintendents to manage scope changes and minimize project risks
- Review and approve invoices, payroll, and project billing
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, FDOT representatives, consultants, and vendors
- Direct, mentor, and support Project Engineers and field staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent industry experience
- 5+ years of experience managing heavy civil construction projects valued at $25M–$130M, including roadway, bridge, concrete, and excavation work
- Demonstrated experience delivering FDOT projects, with strong knowledge of FDOT standards, specifications, pay items, and compliance processes
- 2+ years of experience supervising and mentoring junior Project Engineers
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications
- Hands-on experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contract documentation
- Strong communication skills for working with clients, agencies, inspectors, and internal stakeholders
- Proven problem-solving, analytical, and organizational abilities
