Finance Manager

Position Summary
As a vital member of the Bel Air Church team, the Finance Manager helps steward the financial resources entrusted to the church by maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring strong internal controls, managing payroll operations, and supporting financial reporting. This role partners closely with church leadership, ministry teams, and the Finance Department to support the mission of Bel Air Church through excellence, accountability, and faithful stewardship.
Essential Responsibilities Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts in accordance with church policies, nonprofit accounting standards, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Reconcile bank accounts, contribution records, payroll accounts, and other financial data to ensure accuracy and accountability.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare financial reports and analyses for church leadership, ministry leaders, and special projects.
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation in compliance with church policies and nonprofit accounting requirements.
Payroll Administration
- Manage all payroll processing through Paylocity, including system configuration, maintenance, recordkeeping, and bi-weekly payroll administration.
- Prepare and submit payroll-related monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements.
- Ensure payroll records are accurate, complete, and compliant with applicable regulations.
- Assist with payroll budgeting and compensation reporting for the annual budgeting process.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Support
- Partner with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, donations, reimbursements, and vendor payments.
- Monitor financial transactions to maintain appropriate internal controls and financial integrity.
Financial Stewardship & Compliance
- Support internal and external audit activities by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, church policies, and financial best practices.
- Assist in developing and maintaining accounting procedures and internal controls.
Ministry & Organizational Support
- Provide financial insights and reporting that support ministry planning and decision-making.
- Assist with budgeting, stewardship campaigns, designated funds, and special initiatives.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and accountability.
Special Projects
- Perform additional accounting, reporting, and financial analysis projects as assigned by the Director of Finance.

QualificationsEducation & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit, church, or ministry environment.
- Experience processing payroll and managing payroll systems, preferably Paylocity.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles (FASB standards).
- Proficiency with accounting software and financial management systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with church staff, ministry leaders, and external partners.

Reports To: Director of Finance
FLSA Status: Exempt
Employment Type: Full-Time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
