Job Title: Automotive Technician (Tire & Light Service Technician)
Location: Point S Tire & Automotive – Spanish Fork, UT
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Position Summary
The Automotive Technician is responsible for performing tire services, basic vehicle maintenance, and light automotive repairs in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. This role supports overall shop operations by ensuring quality workmanship, customer safety, and timely service delivery.
Technicians are expected to maintain a professional attitude, follow all company policies and safety procedures, and contribute to a team-oriented shop environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are representative of the responsibilities of this position. This list is not intended to be exhaustive and may be modified as operational needs change.
Tire & Wheel Services
- Mount, dismount, rotate, and balance tires
- Repair tires according to industry safety standards
- Inspect tires for wear, damage, and safety concerns
- Perform TPMS diagnosis, reset, and service
Basic Maintenance Services
- Perform oil changes and fluid services
- Conduct vehicle inspections related to routine maintenance
- Replace basic wear-and-tear components as trained (wipers, bulbs, filters, etc.)
Light Mechanical Repairs (as trained/assigned)
- Assist with brake service (pads, rotors, basic brake inspections)
- Support suspension and steering inspections
- Assist senior technicians with more advanced repairs as needed
Shop Operations & Safety
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Follow all OSHA safety guidelines and company safety procedures
- Properly use and maintain tools, machines, and equipment
- Dispose of hazardous materials according to regulations
Customer & Team Interaction
- Communicate professionally with service advisors and team members
- Notify management of additional vehicle concerns or safety issues
- Provide respectful and courteous service when interacting with customers
- Support team members to ensure efficient workflow
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work on feet for extended periods
- Basic mechanical aptitude or willingness to learn
- Dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions
- Ability to work in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in tire service, oil change, or automotive repair shop
- Familiarity with tire machines, balancers, and basic shop equipment
- ASE certifications or technical training (not required)
Work Environment
This position operates in a shop environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, vehicle lift systems, loud noise, exhaust fumes, and varying temperatures. Proper PPE (personal protective equipment) must be worn as required.

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
