Job description:
SUMMARY
A Houseroots Barista leads with hospitality.
You create an environment where guests feel seen, welcomed, and cared for. Coffee is the vehicle. People come first.
You move with urgency during high volume while staying warm, attentive, and composed. You represent Coffee, Community, and Cause in every interaction.
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
- Must be available Saturdays and Sundays
- Weekend availability is required
- Flexibility for holidays and peak seasons preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES
Hospitality
- Greet every guest with eye contact and presence
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for customers and coworkers
- Maintain calm, positive energy during high-volume service
- Balance speed with genuine connection
- Anticipate guest needs and respond quickly
- Handle concerns with professionalism and care
- Speak confidently about menu offerings and seasonal features
Team Contribution
- Support teammates during rushes without being asked
- Follow direction from shift leads and management
- Stay productive during downtime by cleaning, restocking, and organizing
- Receive feedback with openness and maturity
Craft & Operations
- Prepare beverages consistently according to Houseroots standards
- Maintain accuracy and quality under pressure
- Operate POS efficiently
- Heat food items safely and correctly
- Follow FIFO product rotation
- Keep the café clean and organized at all times
- Participate in ongoing training and product education

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Stand for extended periods

Experience:
- Barista: 1 year (Preferred)

Pay: $18.50 - $25.00 per hour
