An Assistant Manager is an hourly position and must have experience working in both retail management and working with people with disabilities.
JOB DETAILS

Shift and Schedule: up to 8-hour shifts, must be available evenings (until 8pm) and weekends
DESCRIPTION
Additional Information: This position combines both typical retail assistant manager duties in conjuction with educational support professional skills. Essentially, this position provides assistant manager supervision for employees with varying disabilities who are being supported by job coaches.
Examples of Duties: This position directs employees (1-2 at a time) through a retail environment. The person in this role will need to be proficient in providing retail instruction and supervision of people with a broad range of disabilities, including medically fragile, orthopedically impaired, developmental, physical, and/or behavioral.
Job Duties
Assistant Manager
1. Provide general, clerical, and managerial assistance.
2. Supervise staff in the store while job coaches are present or without.
3. Regular, reliable, predictable attendance or physical presence is an essential job requirement and critical to the performance of the work.
Retail
1. Performing customer sales and service.
2. Directing other staff (sales associates and job coaches).
3. Training newly hired staff members.
4. Merchandising and setting promotional signage.
6. Customer service through telephone calls, in-person interactions.
8. Check and retrieve merchandise from storage areas.
9. Organize, restock, and clean merchandise.
10. Inventory control.
CONDITIONS
Will be confined to work area for prolonged periods; may be required to lift heavy boxes (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, twist, climb, and/or be mobile.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Associate degree and/or 72 credit hours of post-secondary education or similar/ equivalent is PREFERED but not required dependent upon the candidate and their prior experience. Overall, we are looking for someone who demonstrates the appropriate knowledge, ability, or proficient skills to assist in instructing and leading staff members with varying disabilities to perform the work required.
Licenses/Special Requirements
CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to be trained within the first 90 days of employment.
Fingerprints and successful WSP and FBI background clearance/ sexual misconduct clearance.
Allowable Substitution
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be evaluated for comparability.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of developmental, behavioral, and/or physical disabilities. Knowledge of subject areas and basic learning styles.
Knowledge of effective instructional methods for people with disabilities.
Knowledge and ability to perform customer sales and service, complete inventory, train new hires, merchandise, and enforce company policies.
Ability to maintain a professional work environment and provide exemplary customer service while maintaining the integrity and support for our staff members.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to obtain, clarify, and exchange information clearly and efficiently.
Ability to use excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively and collegially with staff, community, etc.
Ability to walk, sit, squat, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, reach, and lift to attend to the needs of the store and the potential physical needs of the employees.
Ability to get to work in inclement weather (reliable transportation).
Ability to lift 25 pounds individually and team-lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to organize and coordinate staff members and schedules.
Ability to be sensitive to staff or patrons who are unable to communicate their needs.
Ability to demonstrate reasonable, reliable, and regular attendance.
Ability to establish and maintain effective civil and collegial working relationships with a variety of people in a multicultural, diverse socio-economic retail setting.
