Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Human Resources/Safety Manager to lead our organization's efforts in fostering a compliant, safe, and healthy work environment. This role combines strategic oversight of workplace safety programs with Human Resources responsibilities to ensure adherence to all regulatory standards in both roles. The ideal candidate will work with the leadership team in the overall administration of the human resources functions involving approximately 16 hours per week, with the remaining work week focusing on a proactive safety role.
Responsibilities
- Recommend, develop, and implement personnel policies, procedures, and changes to existing rules.
- Work closely with the leadership team in recruitment efforts conducting interviews and extending job offers.
- Hire and conduct orientation for new employees.
- Investigate and resolve employee complaints or workplace issues.
- Assist and advise the leadership team in the areas of discipline and policies administration.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Tracking attendance and assisting with bi-weekly payroll of approximately 50 employees.
- Conduct annual open enrollment benefits meetings.
- Coordinate emergency procedures and ensure that first aid is provided to employees if needed.
- Conduct hazard assessments, root cause analysis, and incident investigations to identify risks and develop corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
- Lead training sessions on safety regulations, environmental management practices, first aid (including CPR), and emergency response procedures for all employees.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims, ensuring proper documentation, reporting, and adherence to workers' compensation law requirements.
- Write detailed reports on safety audits, incident investigations, compliance assessments to support regulatory reporting.
Skills & Role Requirements:
- Proven experience in manufacturing environments with a strong understanding of workplace safety regulations such as OSHA standards and hazardous materials regulations. Certification or extensive knowledge in first aid, CPR, OSHA safety regulations.
- A degree in a Human Resources field or SHRM certification with proven experience in a Human Resources Leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of Labor Laws and compliance regulations.
- Familiarity with workers’ compensation law processes and legal requirements related to occupational health and safety.
- Excellent communication skills and flexibility to provide assistance for training, safety issues, health benefits, etc. as needed on off-shifts.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
