Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator with a current rigging license to join a busy oilfield yard. This role involves operating heavy equipment and performing critical rigging tasks to assemble, disassemble, stage, and move drilling rig components and related equipment in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment including (but not limited to) forklifts, telehandlers, loaders, excavators, and other yard equipment to move, stage, and position drilling rig components, tubulars, BOP stacks, substructures, and related materials.
- Perform certified rigging operations for lifting, securing, and moving heavy loads in and around drilling rigs and yard operations.
- Assist with rig-up and rig-down activities, including spotting loads, signaling, and coordinating with crane operators and crews.
- Conduct pre-use inspections of equipment and rigging gear; report deficiencies immediately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company and client HSE standards.
- Follow all site-specific procedures, JSA/JHA requirements, and LOTO protocols.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, crane operators, and other crew members during lifts and equipment movements.
- Support general yard operations as needed (material handling, equipment staging, housekeeping).
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid rigging certification/license (NCCCO, or equivalent recognized certification preferred).
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment in an oilfield, industrial, or construction environment (rig-up yard or drilling experience strongly preferred).
- Current forklift certification (or ability to obtain quickly).
- Strong understanding of load charts, hand signals, and safe lifting practices.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and around active drilling/rig-up operations.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and physical (as required by client).
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and extended shifts during peak rig moves.
Preferred Qualifications
- NCCCO or equivalent crane-related certifications.
- Experience working specifically on drilling rigs or in rig-up/down yards.
- Additional heavy equipment certifications (excavator, loader, telehandler, etc.).
- H2S, SafeLand, PEC, or other oilfield safety training.
- CDL a plus (not required).

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
