*Opportunity to bring in your own clients or handle walk-ins on a commission basis when not engaged in Assistant duties
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed cosmetologists and barbers with client preparation, including shampooing, conditioning, blowouts and setting the stage for styling or treatments
- Maintain salon sanitation standards by cleaning tools, stations, and work areas in compliance with health regulations
- Inventory of products as needed
- Manage front desk duties such as scheduling appointments
- Promote retail sales by upselling hair care products, retail math calculations, and store management skills to enhance client satisfaction
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide personalized recommendations for hair styling or treatments
- Mentor new team members on salon procedures, sanitation practices, and customer service excellence
Qualifications
- Valid cosmetology license or barbering license issued by the state or relevant licensing authority
- Experience working in the beauty industry with knowledge of hair care, hair coloring, & styling
- Strong communication skills to engage clients confidently and foster positive relationships
- Knowledge of sanitation standards to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for all clients and staff
- Ability to perform retail sales through upselling techniques and store management principles
- Passion for learning about new trends in hair styling, hair extensions, eyelash extensions, and advanced haircutting techniques like straight razor shaving
