The Line Locator is responsible for accurately identifying and marking underground utility lines, including but not limited to electric, gas, water, sewer, and telecommunications systems. This role is crucial in preventing damage during excavation and construction activities by ensuring all underground utilities are properly located and documented.

Essential Functions:
Utility Detection: Utilize specialized equipment to detect and mark the location of underground utilities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of utility locations, including sketches, maps, and digital records, to support project planning and execution.
Communication: Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to provide clear information about utility locations and any potential conflicts.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe working environment.
Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine checks and maintenance on locating equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
Training Support: Assist in training new team members on locating procedures and safety practices as needed
Respond to emergency locate requests promptly and efficiently.
Stay updated on industry best practices and technological advancements in utility locating.
Position Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or vocational training is a plus.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in utility locating or a related field preferred.
Experience & Skills:
Proficient in using utility locating equipment and interpreting utility maps and blueprints.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and make informed decisions in the field.
Familiarity with state and federal regulations regarding utility locating.

Work Environment:
This position operates primarily outdoors at various transmission job sites, requiring exposure to different weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, or snow. The role involves working at heights on transmission towers, around high-voltage electrical systems, and in rugged terrain, making safety awareness and adherence to protocols essential.
