Position Description:
CGI is seeking a Senior Automated Test Engineer to lead and mature automation capabilities supporting VAL/MC operations within a mixed Java/.NET ecosystem. The engineer will design enterprise grade automation frameworks, strengthen API/UI validation suites, and integrate testing outcomes directly into CI/CD pipelines. This role supports modern and legacy environments including service layers (MongoDB, Liberty/Java, .NET/Angular), data platforms (SQL Server, DB2 on z/OS), and batch operations orchestrated through Control M.
Ideal candidates bring hands on API automation expertise, DevSecOps practices, and the ability to coach developers and validators across web, service, and mainframe touchpoints.
***This position is on site 5 days a week at SSA HQ in Woodlawn, MD***
Your future duties and responsibilities:
. Architect, implement, and evolve automated API and UI testing frameworks using TestNG, REST Assured, Selenium WebDriver (Java), and Postman where appropriate.
. Integrate automated test suites within CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket), incorporating quality gates and producing consumable reporting.
. Conduct release validation in VAL environments and support MC sanity checks; triage broker/health alerts and collaborate with development and operations teams to drive resolutions.
. Apply object oriented design patterns such as POM and SOLID principles to ensure scalable and maintainable automation codebases; lead code reviews and modernization efforts.
. Implement and validate API security controls aligned to OWASP API Top 10 (authorization, rate limiting, SSRF prevention, endpoint inventory), ensuring coverage within pipelines.
. Introduce and configure service virtualization (WireMock, Mountebank, Parasoft) to stabilize tests across distributed and dependent systems.
. Design, implement, and maintain test data strategies including masking practices aligned with federal privacy expectations (deterministic pseudonymization, referential integrity).
. Conduct accessibility validation aligned to Section 508 requirements as part of UI lifecycle changes.
. Mentor cross functional teams and develop reusable documentation, including technical how tos, best practices, and training materials for validators and developers.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
. Ability to obtain and maintain US Public Trust Clearance
. Bachelor's degree and 7+ years IT experience.
. 710+ years of experience in test automation with expertise in API automation (REST Assured, TestNG, Postman) and UI automation (Selenium Java).
. Proven experience integrating automated test suites into CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket).
. Strong understanding of HTTP, JSON structures, and API authentication mechanisms including OAuth 2.0 and JWT.
. Proficiency in Java with the ability to collaborate effectively in mixed .NET and JavaScript environments.
. Demonstrated experience executing practical API security testing, including authorization and negative test scenarios.
. Candidate must support onsite operations in Woodlawn, MD daily.
Desired qualifications/non essential skills required:
. Experience with ETDMS components including MongoDB, Liberty/Java services, .NET/Angular UI, Solr, MFT, and DB2 on z/OS.
. Familiarity with Operational Control M batch flows and VAL/MC operational processes.
. Hands on experience with service virtualization (WireMock, Mountebank, Parasoft).
. Performance testing experience using JMeter, Gatling, or k6 with demonstrated ability to interpret results.
. Experience performing Section 508 compliance testing using standard methodologies or Trusted Tester approaches.
. Experience with validation tools including ALM, UFT, or Parasoft in enterprise validation contexts.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $79,600.00 $176,300.00.
