Art & STEAM Teacher
Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate, innovative, and student-centered Art & STEAM Teacher to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving through both visual arts and interdisciplinary STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education. The ideal candidate will cultivate a classroom environment where students explore artistic expression while engaging in hands-on, inquiry-based learning that integrates design thinking, engineering, coding, technology, and real-world problem-solving. This educator will foster creativity, collaboration, and innovation while preparing students with the skills needed for success in the 21st century.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging Art and STEAM curricula aligned with state standards and school goals.
- Design hands-on, project-based learning experiences that integrate art, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
- Teach foundational visual arts skills, including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, digital art, and design principles.
- Facilitate STEAM activities such as engineering challenges, robotics, coding, makerspace projects, design thinking, and technology integration.
- Foster creativity, innovation, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving through interdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that encourages exploration, experimentation, and artistic expression.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social-emotional, and learning needs of all students.
- Utilize technology and digital tools to enhance instruction and student engagement.
- Assess student growth through performance-based assessments, portfolios, presentations, exhibitions, and project outcomes.
- Incorporate cross-curricular connections that reinforce literacy, mathematics, science, and technology concepts through art and design.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and school leaders to integrate STEAM initiatives across grade levels.
- Organize and showcase student artwork, STEAM projects, exhibitions, competitions, and school-wide events.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and well-equipped art and makerspace classroom while ensuring proper use of materials, equipment, and technology.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Participate in professional development and remain current on best practices in art education, STEAM education, educational technology, and project-based learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, STEAM Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification preferred.
- Experience teaching art and/or STEAM in an elementary, middle, or high school setting.
- Strong knowledge of visual arts techniques, design principles, and creative processes.
- Experience with project-based learning, makerspaces, engineering design, robotics, coding, or educational technology is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with digital art tools, educational technology platforms, and interactive classroom technology.
- Excellent classroom management, lesson planning, and instructional design skills.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills with students, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners, including students with disabilities and multilingual learners.
- Experience supporting students with autism or other exceptional learning needs is highly valued.
- Passion for inspiring creativity, innovation, curiosity, and lifelong learning through both the arts and STEAM education.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $64,753.52 - $77,982.73 per year
