Seeking an Engineering and Installation Technician II with 2–4 years of experience installing and supporting structured cabling, telecommunications systems, cable pathways, equipment racks, and network infrastructure in commercial and DoD environments. The technician performs site surveys, installs and tests CAT5e/CAT6 cabling, telephony systems, cable transport infrastructure, and network equipment, and supports cutover and sustainment activities at secure government facilities.
Key Responsibilities

Install, terminate, test, and label CAT5e/CAT6 structured cabling systems in accordance with TIA/EIA and BICSI standards.

Install and support telephony systems, including 66-block and 110-block wall fields, punch-downs, cross-connects, cable lacing, and labeling.

Install cable transport systems (J-hooks, cable tray, ladder rack, and conduit), including fire-rated wall penetrations through T-grid and hard-lid ceilings.

Install and anchor telecommunications racks and cabinets on true and raised floors, including seismic and weight distribution considerations.

Apply proper bonding and grounding techniques for structured cabling, pathways, racks, and active network equipment.

Install and support network hardware (switches, routers, patch panels) and maintain clean cable management in telecom rooms and data centers.

Troubleshoot cabling, telephony, grounding, and connectivity issues and perform scheduled maintenance.

Produce and maintain installation documentation, including as-built drawings, cable schedules, and test results.

Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and customers to meet project scope, schedule, quality, and DoD security requirements.

Follow all company, industry, and government safety and security procedures.
Required Qualifications

2–4 years of hands-on experience in structured cabling and telecommunications installation.

BICSI Installer (1 or 2)

Active secret security clearance (or higher)

Experience with CAT5e/CAT6, 66/110 blocks, cable transport systems, racks/cabinets, and grounding.

Ability to work on DoD installations and obtain/maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Ability to read and interpret drawings, floor plans, and technical diagrams.

Proficiency with cable testing equipment (e.g., Fluke, TDR).

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined or elevated spaces.

Valid driver’s license and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications

Fiber optic installation and termination experience.

Knowledge of PoE and basic IP networking.
