Affordable Dentures & Implants is seeking a compassionate, skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our growing team. What You’ll Do
As a Dental Assistant, you’ll provide exceptional chairside support while helping patients throughout every stage of their treatment experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver outstanding patient care and create a welcoming, positive experience from check-in through treatment.
- Prepare operatories, instruments, equipment, and materials before each patient appointment.
- Assist dentists during denture procedures, dental implant placement, oral surgery, extractions, and prosthetic treatments in accordance with state regulations.
- Take and assist with alginate denture impressions, select appropriate impression trays, and prepare wax bites under dentist direction.
- Assist with denture insertions, adjustments, relines, repairs, and other expanded duties where permitted by state law.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, denture options, implant procedures, post-operative care, home care instructions, and financial packages.
- Obtain and document patient medical histories, treatment information, and clinical notes accurately.
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays) in accordance with state certification requirements.
- Maintain strict infection prevention and sterilization standards by cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing instruments and operatories.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering clinical supplies.
- Support daily office operations, including maintaining a clean, organized clinical environment.
- Travel occasionally for training and continuing education opportunities as needed.
- Perform additional duties to support patient care and office success.
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong communication and patient service skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and compassionate patient care
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ year of dental assisting experience
- Experience assisting with dentures, removable prosthetics, or dental implants
- Experience taking denture impressions and wax bites
- Experience assisting with oral surgery and extractions
- Experience with prosthodontic procedures
- EFDA and X-ray certification (where required by state)
- Familiarity with dental practice management software and electronic patient records
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and sit for extended periods throughout the workday
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to work safely in a clinical environment while following OSHA and infection control protocols
