ABOUT THE ROLE
PTI Quality Containment Solutions is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Customer Service Representative (CSR) to join our Detroit materials team. In this role, you will manage logistics activities supporting automotive customer programs, coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, and serve as a key point of contact between customers, suppliers, and internal teams. This is a hands-on, fast-paced position that plays a critical role in keeping our supply chain running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality inspections on parts and materials to ensure compliance with customer specifications
- Serve as the on-site point of contact between client management and production staff
- Identify, document, and communicate quality issues in a timely manner
- Utilize precision measurement tools to verify product dimensions and tolerances
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings
- Maintain accurate inspection records and complete required documentation
- Input data and generate reports using basic computer systems
- Support continuous improvement efforts and uphold quality standards
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all logistics activities supporting automotive customer programs
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with third-party warehouse providers
- Schedule and process outbound shipments according to customer-specific shipping requirements
- Manage EDI activities, including the preparation and transmission of Advance Shipping Notices (ASNs)
- Monitor customer demand and inventory levels, reporting low inventory situations daily
- Coordinate with production facilities and internal teams to develop and maintain production schedules based on customer requirements
- Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly logistics, inventory, and performance reports for management
- Coordinate logistics plans and transportation routes while ensuring compliance with agreed-upon shipping terms
- Identify opportunities to improve workflow efficiency, logistics processes, and operational controls
- Interface effectively with customers, suppliers, warehouses, and internal departments to support business objectives
- Proven ability to manage inventory levels providing appropriate levels of raw material to support production while maximizing inventory turns
- Proven ability to align activities of both salaried and hourly employees to meet business financial objectives
Qualifications & Preferred Experience
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Experience with Microsoft Excel required; proficient in MS Office and/or Google Workspace
- Manufacturing or production office experience preferred
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Plex, SAP, Oracle, Manufacturing Pro)
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Fluent in English
- High School Diploma / GED required; Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred
- Previous warehouse, inventory, receiving, parts, or production support experience preferred
- Experience working within a multicultural business environment
- Experience coordinating third-party warehouse operations and transportation providers
- Experience working directly with automotive OEMs and/or Tier 1 suppliers
