OSHA 30 / DOB Certified Welder (MIG & TIG)Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced OSHA 30 and DOB Certified Welder/Fabricator to join our shop. The ideal candidate will have experience performing MIG and TIG welding on structural and miscellaneous steel in both shop and on the job. This position requires a strong commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and the ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings while producing high quality welds that meet project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform MIG and TIG welding on structural steel, miscellaneous metals, railings, stairs, ladders, platforms, and custom fabricated components.
- Read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication details, blueprints, and welding symbols to accurately fabricate and assemble steel components.
- Cut, fit, tack, grind, and weld steel using proper fabrication techniques.
- Fabricate components from structural steel, plate, tubing, pipe, and miscellaneous metal products.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet quality standards and project specifications.
- Operate welding equipment, plasma cutters, grinders, saws, and other fabrication tools safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following OSHA and company safety procedures.
- Coordinate with shop supervisors, project managers, and field crews to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Assist with field welding and installation when required.
Qualifications
- Current OSHA 30 Certification (Required).
- NYC Department of Buildings (DOB) Certified Welder (Required).
- Fire Guard for Torch Operation Certification by FDNY (Bonus)
- Proven experience performing both MIG and TIG welding in a fabrication shop or structural steel environment.
- Experience fabricating and welding structural steel and miscellaneous metals.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication details.
- Strong knowledge of steel fabrication methods, layout, fit-up, and welding procedures.
- Experience using fabrication equipment including grinders, saws, plasma cutters, ironworkers, and hand tools.
- Ability to accurately measure and fabricate using tape measures, squares, levels, and other measuring tools.
- AWS welding certifications are a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, quality, and safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable transportation and a strong work ethic.
Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour
