SCHEDULE: Flexible. Either Monday - Friday or Tuesday - Saturday (preferred). 8AM - 4PM (preferred) or 10AM - 6PM.
Job Summary:
The Spruce Confections Production Associate/Driver Representative role performs hybrid responsibilities including production baking, processing, packaging, and palletizing of finished products as well as loading/unloading, driving, organizing box truck transfers to/from co-packers and internally. This position requires the ability to perform multiple functions within the Longmont Production Facility, driving to/from Denver, and the flexibility to pivot between responsibilities as needed based on production needs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Follow recipes to measure and combine ingredients using mixers, blenders, heat sources, and other equipment to make baked goods, such as cookies, scones and other products as needed.
- Testing ingredients and finished goods to ensure that each item meets food safety and quality controls.
- Maintain records relating to orders, inventory, and production levels.
- Clean and restock workstations and ensure that all equipment is sanitized and prepared for the next shift.
- Follow company packing procedures and standards.
- Handle inventory with care and attention to detail.
- Adhere to safety programs and OSHA compliance for a safe work environment.
- Follow company safety policies and procedures and encourage other associates to do the same.
- Ensure product orders are packed and moved carefully.
- Load packaged products onto pallets for storage.
- Collaborate with internal forklift operator for pallet storage and collection.
- Work at different stations as production requires.
- Inspect, weigh, and package products.
- Monitor flow of product into processing machinery as needed.
- Verify compliance with quality, safety, production standards, work rules, and efficient operations of equipment.
- Complete assigned duties efficiently using excellent time management.
- Seek additional tasks when initial assigned duties have been completed.
- Carefully load and unload boxes into the delivery van and follow best practices for safe lifting and transporting of heavy items.
- Ensure all items are loaded with care in order to minimize any possible damage to products during transit.
- Meet all delivery deadlines to ensure customers receive orders as expected.
- Check-in regularly with the AM Delivery Manager regarding delivery updates, issues, etc.
- Follow customers’ rules and policies while on private, public or shared property.
- Plan and navigate delivery routes safely and efficiently.
- Travel with a cell phone at all times and respond to calls and texts only when it is safe to do so.
- Able and willing to change a tire when needed.
- Fill the delivery van with gas when necessary, using a company issued gas card.
- Keep the delivery van interior clean and free of trash or spills.
- Obey all traffic laws.
- Report any delivery van issues immediately to your Manager.
- Report accidents, tickets and other law infractions to your Manager.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Valid Colorado Drivers License.
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to maintain consistent, predictable punctuality for shifts.
- Strong communication, time, and resource management.
- Attention to detail, especially when performing quality inspections on ingredients and products.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Willingness to work independently or with other team members to solve problems, plan schedules, fulfill orders, and create amazing baked goods.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Related experience preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in hot, hectic environments.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, using hands and appliances.
