North Star Design is seeking a Design Engineer to join our site civil team at our office in Flemington, NJ. We are an
expanding multi-disciplined civil engineering firm specializing in land development and project management which

candidate will have approximately 3+ years of experience in commercial site design and permitting and a
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Salary will be commensurate on the candidate’s experience. The candidate
will be eligible for a bonus incentive annually. The candidate should be self-motivated and goal oriented,
demonstrate good oral and written communication skills, detail oriented, and take pride in his/her work and
achievements.
Responsibilities:
Have working experience in land development and the associated applicable regulations and codes.
Demonstrate the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while being flexible and able to adapt
to a changing environment.
Have the ability to work independently and/or part of a team on all phases of land development projects,
from due diligence through construction administration.
Ability to review municipal ordinances to perform zoning analyses and prepare written summaries.
Perform complete due diligence on properties including site visits, review of available mapping, review of
agency regulations, verbal discussions with municipalities and various agencies, and coordination with
clients.
Perform the design of land development projects which include zoning reviews, grading, earthwork
analysis, stormwater management designs, lighting designs, and roadway and utility profiles. Grading
abilities should include knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) regulations and the ability to
provide designs in accordance with same.
Coordinate project forecasting and project budgeting.
Attend agency meetings.
Have previous working experience with AutoCAD (including Civil Engineering design packages) to prepare
the base maps and site plan documents for projects.
Preparation of written correspondence with outside agencies, contractors, clients, etc. Also includes
preparation of technical reports including Site Investigation Reports, Drainage Reports, and other reports
required during the approval process.
Communicate directly with clients and municipalities.
Perform field observations during the design and construction of projects including the ability to
recognize conformance with design plans, interaction with contractors and in-field decision making
capabilities.
Ability to work with and manage other team members including management of their workloads and
schedules along with the ability to train younger staff members.
