NIXON GEAR - CNC MACHINIST
Gear Motions - Nixon Gear Division is a leading gear manufacturer dedicated to delivering high-quality, precision-cut and ground gears for OEMs worldwide. Our extensive manufacturing capabilities enable us to produce custom gears that meet the most demanding specifications, ensuring excellence in every project. We are currently seeking a full time CNC Machinist for our 1st shift (Monday - Thursday 6:00am - 4:30pm) to join our team! 3-5 years experience desired with a variety of CNC equipment. Preference given to machinists that are familiar with Mazatrol and Fanuc controllers. Familiarity with close tolerances, ISO and SPC processes helpful.
CNC MACHINIST DUTIES
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines and CNC lathes, primarily using Fanuc controls, ensuring optimal performance and quality output
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and manufacturing specifications to produce precise components
- Program CNC machines using CAM programming software; modify programs as needed for tool changes or process improvements
- Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision measuring instruments to verify part dimensions
- Maintain proper tooling, fixtures, and tooling setups; troubleshoot machining issues promptly to minimize downtime
- Follow safety protocols; utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other manufacturing tools responsibly
CNC MACHINIST EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience operating CNC milling machines and CNC lathes with Fanuc controls or similar systems
- Knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T principles, and mechanical drawings
- Skilled in CNC programming with CAM software; familiar with SolidWorks and CAD for part design review
- Mechanical aptitude with understanding of tooling, machining processes, electrical discharge machining (EDM), plastics injection molding, welding, and assembly techniques
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and CMMs accurately
- Basic math skills for calculations related to machining tolerances and measurements
