Job Title: Orthopedic Durable Medical Equipment & Cast Technician
Location: Southern Oregon Orthopedics, Medford, OR
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
Pay: $20-22 per hour
Position Overview:
The DME & Cast Technician is responsible for providing high-quality patient care through the coordination and application of orthopedic braces, casts, and splints. This role requires a strong clinical foundation in orthopedics, exceptional attention to detail, and effective communication with patients, providers, and staff.
This position supports the vision, mission, and values of the organization while maintaining a safe, efficient, and patient-centered clinical environment. The DME & Cast Technician works under the direction of the DME & Cast Department Supervisor with oversight from the Clinical Services Manager.
Essential Functions and Duties:

Apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints, and orthopedic braces as directed by physicians

Ensure proper fit and function of all devices to support optimal patient outcomes and prevent complications

Assess and document skin integrity and neurovascular status before and after brace, splint, or cast application

Assist physicians with fracture reductions and minor in-room procedures as needed

Apply dressings and provide additional patient care support as directed

Respond to patient phone calls and messages, documenting all interactions in the EMR in a timely manner

Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all patient care and device application in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards

Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked clinical workspace

Adhere to all infection control, safety, and clinic protocols
Requirements:
Qualifications:

Minimum of one (1) year of healthcare experience preferred

Strong knowledge of anatomy, fracture classification, and orthopedic bracing/casting materials

Proficiency with EMR systems

Demonstrates strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

Ability to provide patient-centered care with professionalism and empathy
Physical Requirements:

Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 30 minutes continuously

Regularly required to bend, squat, lift, and move up to 25 pounds

Must have full use of hands, arms, and fingers for equipment operation and patient care
