Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Med Surg Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in medical-surgical nursing, with extensive experience in patient assessment, care planning, and clinical procedures. As a Med Surg RN, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients across a variety of medical conditions, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal health outcomes. Duties
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed health histories to inform individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately, including IV infusions, injections, and medication management in compliance with hospital protocols.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner to document patient information meticulously and ensure seamless communication across healthcare teams.
- Assist with diagnostic procedures including laboratory specimen collection, phlebotomy, catheterizations, and wound suturing while maintaining strict aseptic techniques.
- Monitor patients’ conditions closely, managing acute pain, airway management, ventilator support, and responding effectively to emergency situations such as trauma or critical deterioration.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, therapists, case managers, and social workers to coordinate discharge planning and post-acute care services.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medication administration, lifestyle modifications, and health coaching tailored to individual needs such as geriatrics or behavioral health populations.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical-surgical nursing within hospital settings is required; ICU or Level I Trauma Center experience is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation and patient record management.
- Extensive clinical background in acute care environments including emergency medicine, critical care (ICU), or telemetry units.
- Familiarity with specialized procedures such as cardiac catheterization, ostomy care, dialysis support, or trauma medicine enhances your suitability for this role.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics (PICU), geriatrics (memory care), neonatal resuscitation procedures (NRP), or patients with developmental disabilities is advantageous.
- Knowledge of infection control practices aligned with NCQA standards and ICD coding (ICD-9/10) for accurate documentation is essential.
- Prior experience in home care or outpatient settings such as urgent care clinics or outpatient surgical centers will be considered a plus.
