The Vasculitis Translational Research Program, within the National Institute of Arthritis, Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases is now recruiting for a Staff Scientist it conduct basic and translational research to discover a better understanding and treatment of vasculitis.
This Staff Scientist will be responsible for designing and conducting research in areas pertaining to our understanding of the molecular, cellular, and immunological mechanisms that influence the pathogenesis of vasculitis, including the role of germline and somatic mutations in novel forms of vasculitis. In short, our lab has an emphasis on identifying and defining clonal populations of cells in systemic vasculitis and understanding how the host-immunological response relates to vascular pathology
Prospective staff scientists will have a major role in assisting the VTRP Chief in project management, training Post-doctoral and Post-baccalaureate Fellows, and preparing data for presentation and publication. Excellent written and oral English communication skills are required.
Salary is commensurate with research experience and accomplishments. Applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree with at least 5 years of postdoctoral experience. Individuals should also have expertise in multi-dimensional flow-cytometry and the analysis of primary human immune cells. Proficiency in basic molecular biology skills and next generation sequencing techniques and analysis, including RNA-Seq, single cell RNA-Seq, ATAC-Seq, ChIP-Seq, and flow cytometry are also necessary.
