American Traveler is hiring a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a CVOR position requiring 5+ years of CST experience, including dedicated cardiac and vascular experience, with night shift weekend hours and on-call requirements.

Work setting is a cardiovascular OR (CVOR) within a major academic medical center heart hospital
-
Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:30–07:00, on weekends (PM weekends)

On-call is required; must be flexible

Procedures include CABG, EVAR, TEVAR, valve replacement (mitral, TAVR), VAD, aortic aneurysm repair, thoracic and vascular surgery, and transplant (heart, lung)

Additional procedures include vascular cases (carotid endarterectomy, femoral-popliteal bypass, renal artery bypass), general surgery (Whipple, colectomy, thyroidectomy), and plastics (free flap/microvascular)

Work settings include CVOR, General OR, Hybrid OR, and Trauma

Equipment experience includes cell saver, crash cart, electrosurgical units, drills, fiber optic equipment, high-level disinfectant (HLD), and case carts

Cardiovascular and thoracic instrument reprocessing experience required

EMR: Epic

Active OH or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration — note: this is a CST role; OH state licensure/certification must be active

Current BLS certification required

Minimum 5 years of total CST experience required (hard stop)

Minimum 2 years of dedicated cardiac and vascular scrub experience required (hard stop)

Minimum 1 year of CVOR experience required

Minimum 1 year of experience in a Level I Trauma facility required

Scrub experience required; ability to scrub and circulate

Proficiency in aseptic technique, equipment documentation, radiation safety, sharps safety, specimen handling, and universal protocol
-
Experience with robotic-assisted cardiothoracic surgery preferred
-
2 professional references required: at least 1 from a manager, director, or formal leadership role (e.g., supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; co-worker references are not accepted

Ohio fingerprinting is required and must be completed as soon as possible after contract signing — candidates outside Ohio within driving distance must travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location; those at greater distances will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet to be completed urgently

All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration and will be built into the contract; RTO is limited to 7 days or less

Former employees of the facility are eligible after a minimum 6-month separation; current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are not eligible

This is an academic teaching hospital environment with a Level I Trauma designation
