The Referral Coordinator’s role is to finalize the workflow prior to scheduling at Spokane Digestive Center by converting referral tasks to scheduling orders for endoscopy procedures, clinic consults, and recalls.
This is a fully remote position but must have 2-3 weeks of on-site training at our Downtown office .You must have proper set up and internet to accomodate a work from home position.
Minimum qualifications:
· High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
· Medical record and/or referral experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
· Understanding of referrals, medical records, and authorizations.
· Phone etiquette with patients
· Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook, and gMed.
· Ability to communicate effectively in writing, over the telephone, and in person.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Processes all diagnostic/specialty/miscellaneous inbound referral requests after they have completed health history screening through our pre-assessment team.
· Works with billing to obtain insurance authorization for inbound referrals where needed.
· Works with Epic to obtain records.
· Records all appropriate information in patients’ chart
· Provides all necessary patient information (medical records, notes, etc.) to the appropriate source remembering the importance of confidentiality and HIPAA.
· Imports correspondence into the electronic medical record gMed.
· Reviews records to determine clinical need for anesthesia or MD review.
· Appropriately closes the loop on all incoming referrals screened by the pre-assessment team; and documents actions as directed. This includes determining appropriate plan of care for patient based on SDC guidelines.
· Assists with assigned projects
· Demonstrates an understanding of practice management system’s patient processing functions through an ability to enter data with minimal direction or assistance.
· Performs other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed in an interior clinical office setting. Workflow may be demanding and chaotic at times requiring the need for multitasking. Exposed to patient population that can present a variety of contagious diseases, physical injuries and emotional states of mind.

Pay: $20.86 - $26.25 per hour
