Position Summary
The Engineering Intern works within a team-based precision machining environment supporting Engineering, Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement initiatives. This position is responsible for maintaining and improving technical documentation, developing and organizing manufacturing data, assisting with control of CNC programs, and assisting with engineering projects that improve productivity, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.
The Engineering Intern will gain hands-on experience with Multiple Spindle Screw Machines, Single Spindle Lathes, Inspection Robots, CNC manufacturing, CADs systems, engineering documentation, process improvement, and manufacturing engineering while supporting day-to-day engineering operations. The Engineering Intern reports directly to the VP of Engineering.
Responsibilities and Accountability
In a collaborative team environment, the Engineering Intern will:
- Update and maintain manufacturing documentation including:
- Process drawings
- Tool drawings
- Setup sheets
- Inspection layout documents
- Manufacturing work instructions
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models for existing and new manufacturing documentation.
- Generate manufacturing layout files for production use.
- Develop and maintain tooling documentation including assembly prints and tooling libraries.
- Collect, organize, archive, and maintain revision control of all CNC programs across manufacturing equipment.
- Verify CNC program backups and ensure manufacturing data integrity.
- Assist Manufacturing Engineers with quoting new manufacturing opportunities.
- Support machining time studies and process evaluations.
- Participate in cutting tool evaluations and tool life studies.
- Assist with fixture and tooling design projects.
- Support Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
- Participate in cost reduction and productivity improvement projects.
- Work with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Programming personnel to improve manufacturing documentation and standardization.
- Support ERP system maintenance related to engineering data and manufacturing routings.
- Maintain engineering file organization and document control in accordance with company procedures.
- Perform additional engineering assignments as required.
Education, Skills, and Experience
· Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in:
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Manufacturing Technology
- Industrial Engineering
- Engineering Technology or a related field
· Previous machining, manufacturing, CAD, or technical internship experience is preferred but not required.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and desire to learn manufacturing processes.
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T (preferred).
· Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, or similar is preferred.
· Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
· Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
· Ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and within a cross-functional engineering team.
· Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and continuously improve.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
